Srinagar, Sept 7: As the Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag fails to get the MRI Scan machine, the authorities there have directed the doctors to refer patients in need directly to other Government institutions where the facility is available.
In this regard, Principal GMC, Anantnag has issued orders as per which all the HODs, Faculty Members, and Consultants have been advised to refer patients in need of MRI, CT scan, PET scan to SKIMS, Soura, or any other Government institutions.
“It is for information of all HoDs, Faculty members, Consultants and other staff members that any investigation likes MRI, CT scan, PET Scan, etc. which is not available in GMC Anantnag should directly be referred to SKIMS, Soura or any other Government Institution where such facilities are available,” read an order issued by the GMC, Anantnag.
The directives said that any deviation by any employee in this regard will be taken seriously and administrative action as warranted under rules against defaulters will be taken accordingly.
It is to be noted here that because of the absence of an MRI Scan at the hospital, the patients are either forced to travel to Srinagar to get their tests done or are being referred to private diagnostic centers offering the services in the district.
The same was reported earlier by Excelsior where it was informed that the hospital was expecting to have the machine soon. The people had also alleged that the doctors were asking to get such tests done at private labs for their benefit.
In this regard, the directives issued by the GMC, Anantnag Principal have noted that the HoDs will ensure that they will not forward any such case for reimbursement from any corporate, hospital, or any other private Diagnostic lab.
Pertinent to mention here that the GMC, Anantnag was expecting to at least have an MRI Scan machine by October, however, now, those in the know-how of the matters, told Excelsior that the hospital is expecting to have it by December this year.
The patients, on the other hand, said that it is not going to be easy either at SKIMS, Soura where they would be made to wait long to get their MRI or CT scan done.
