UDHAMPUR, Sept 7: Former Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Ashok Bhan visited Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy here and delivered lecture to the participants of two weeks Gazetted officers refresher-cum-orientation course on “Terrorism-Threat Mitigation Strategies”.
At the outset, Dr Bhan said that supervisory level officers have more responsibilities and expectations as such, need to upskill their capabilities. He spoke about the idea of science and skills necessary for optimum utilization of resources.
He discussed various types of threats that heavily pose pressure on internal security situation. While talking about multitude of factors affecting peace and order, he was critical that maintenance of law and order is the prime responsibility of police, same should be prioritized keeping in view gravity and fallout. He advised the audience to pursue investigation in a professional manner. The convictions can bring solace to the victims and respect for the police.
He cautioned that short cuts are counterproductive as the law catches up. He was of the opinion that maintenance of peace and order, collection of intelligence and investigation of crime should come under one umbrella.
At the end of the lecture, Garib Dass, ADGP, Director of the Academy thanked the visiting dignitary for the knowledgeable deliberation, a useful tool of information and guidance. Recalling his decades old experience of serving under the command of Dr Ashok Bhan in various capacities, he spoke about his unmatched administrative skills, meticulous approach, vast experience that have left a deep imprint in his mind. Expressing sincere gratitude, he was optimistic that Dr. Ashok Bhan shall bestow this training academy with his wide knowledge in future also.
Earlier, Mohan Lal, SSP, Deputy Director Trainings welcomed the visiting dignitary and introduced the chemistry of the audience.
The session was also attended by Vinay Kumar, SSP, Dy Director (Administration), AD’s and other staff of the Academy.
