Heroin, liquor recovered, 4 arrested in Reasi

REASI, Sept 7: As a part of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan launched by Central Government and intensifying the drive against drug abuse and illicit liquor smuggling, the teams of  District Police Reasi nabbed four narcotics/illicit liquor smugglers from Reasi, Katra and Ransoo area and recovered some heroin and illicit liquor from their possession.
Official sources said that police team from Talwara led by PSI Sunil Singh,  laid a surprise naka near Talwara and intercepted one illicit liquor smuggler namely- Chatter Singh, son of Shiv Ram, a  resident of Talwara. During checking 18 bottles of Desi whisky, 180 ml each was recovered from his possession.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 224/2022 U/S 48 (f), Excise Act stands registered at P/S Reasi and investigation started.
In Ransoo area another police team led by Insp Kamalpreet Singh laid a surprise naka near Ransoo area and apprehended one notorious smuggler Mohd Shabir, son of Juma, resident of Hari Chuma, Tehsil Teryath in district Rajouri from whom 1.5 ltrs of illicit (desi) liqour was recovered.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 17/2022 U/S 48 (a) Excise Act was registered at Police Station Ransoo and investigation initiated.
Another police team from Katra led by PSI Happy Hans laid a surprise naka near Katra town and apprehended one person namely Vijay Kumar, son of Kuti Ram, resident of Nelay, in Katra with 50 quarters of JK special whiskey containing 250/250 ml each while he was on his way from Panthal towards Katra.
In this regard a case FIR No. 243/2022 U/S 48(a) Excise Act/ 188 IPC stands registered at Police Station Katra and investigation started.
In another incident Police team of Police Station Katra  led by PSI Rakshat Singh under the supervision of Insp. Nishant Gupta, SHO Katra laid a surprise naka near Balini area of Katra, during checking 2 gm heroin like substance recovered from Munish Kumar alias Munna S/O Prem Kumar R/O Serbad, Katra.
A case FIR No. 244/2022 U/S  8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at P/S Katra and investigation started.
