SRINAGAR, Sept 8: The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Association and the Jammu and Kashmir Employees Coordination Committee today protested against Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Bandipora for thrashing a lecturer in the Gurez region.
The protestors assembled at Partap Park, Press Enclave and raised slogans in support of their demand. They said that the Sub Divisional Magistrate for Gurez of District Bandipora, Mudasir, violently assaulted and beat up 10+2 lecturer Bilal Ahmad Magary of GBHSS Gurez in his office chamber.
“While the entire country was honouring teachers and enjoying Teachers’ Day, such disturbing news-and it was caused by an official of such rank-came to light,” a protestor said.
He demanded that the Police Station where the lecturer filed his complaint immediately filed a formal complaint against the power-abusing officer and suspend or attach the officer while an investigation is ongoing.
