EDB opens two more business units

SRINAGAR, Sept 30:  By opening two more business units one at Botengo -Anantnag and other at Sundrani-Udhampur, the total tally of business units of Ellaquai Dehati Bank has risen to 132.
This was the fourth Branch opened by the Bank during the current month and the Bank is on its way to open all branches as per the commitment made with Government of India for providing banking facilities in the unbanked areas.
While inaugurating a business unit at Sundrani in district Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal District Development Commissioner said that strategies adopted by the Bank in the State to reach to the common people are worth appreciation. She said that by providing banking facilities near the homes of the rural people will act as a catalyst in bringing about the change in the economic conditions of the area. She said Bank must cooperate with the line departments for implementation of the Government poverty elevation schemes.  DDC said that the people should take due advantage of the Government Schemes and approach Banks for financing their units
Earlier welcoming the chief guest, A K Razdan Chairman of the Bank highlighted various initiatives taken by the Bank in socio economic development of the state. He said Bank is committed to provide banking facilities to the people living in far flung areas for the inclusive growth. Mr Razdan said that all the business units of the Bank are on CBS and fund transfer facilities through NEFT and RTGS are being provided to the customers at an affordable costs at all the business units. He described EDB as a rural Bank with an urban outlook. He said with proud that all the modern facilities available at an urban Bank branch are being provided by EDB at branches situated in the remotest corners of the State.
He said that Bank is providing loans to farmers at 7 percent rate of interest. He urged the youth to come forward to take benefit of the various schemes devised by the Bank for the eradication of unemployment.
Earlier at Botengo Anantnag a business unit was inaugurated by Local Sarpanch Mohamad Yousf  in presence of D N Bhat General Manager (CR) and S A Qureshi, General Manager (GB).
