JAMMU, June 12: Police today arrested three persons including a former Deputy Director of Planning Department for supply fake appointment orders of Railways Department to youths charging anything between Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh from them in Bishnah, RS Pura and other areas.
The arrested persons have been identified as Bihari Lal, a resident of Babli, Samba, a retired Deputy Director of Planning Department, Gopal Chand of Mandal, Samba and Karan Singh of Nagrota.
The accused, who were absconding, included Pushpinder Singh of Krishna Nagar, Nazir Ahmed, Mushtaq Ahmed, both residents of Srinagar, Som Lal of Ghagwal, Mohinder Kumar and Kamlesh Kumari of Samba.
SDPO RS Pura Diwakar Singh said police have so far come across 32 cases in which the racketeers had cheated the youth. The accused had charged Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh from the victims and gave them fake appointments letters of Ticket Collector, Assistant Station Master and constables etc.
The fake appointment orders were issued in North Eastern Frontier Railways, Recovery Cell, Gorakhpur and Guwahati stations.
Bishnah police have launched a hunt to nab the absconders and work out the whole gamut of racketeers, who had duped several families of their hard earned money.
Police parties headed by SHO Bishnah Jai Pal Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SP Headquarters Shailender Singh and SDPO Diwakar Singh.
In another case, police arrested Raj Kumar of Bishnah and Labba Ram of Kule Chak and recovered 7000 intoxicant capsules and 38 bottles syrup from them.
