SAMBA, Sept 12: Apni Party provincial president, Jammu and former Minister, Manjit Singh today said that the joining of people from the BJP’s strongholds shows that the right wing political party has lost confidence of the people due to various reasons.
He was addressing a joining programme at Dhomre in the Jakh area of Samba district when dozens of people joined the Apni Party under his leadership and in presence of president Apni Trade Union, Ajaz Kazmi, district youth president Samba, Mangat Ram and other leaders.
Welcoming them into the party, the former Minister said that the support of people to Apni Party has gradually grown from hundreds to thousands of people as many of them have left BJP and joined Apni Party.
“The growing feeling of alienation and divisive agenda of BJP has created a rift in the society which requires employment, development, better health care, round the clock electricity, road connectivity and improved education system,” he said while welcoming the people into the party fold.
He said that the people had voted BJP to power in 2014 Assembly elections but their trust was breached and the protection which was granted by the Constitution of India was scrapped. “The scrapping of the special status has increased a sense of insecurity among the local residents as many outsiders have started settling on the name of development in Samba and Kathua and the local population is being taken for a ride by the authorities with hollow assurances. The NHAI is another example which failed to grant compensation to the land owners along the Jammu-Pathankot Highway as per the market value,” he said.
He said that the problems of the general masses have increased manifolds and they have pinned their hopes with the Apni Party and its president, Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari Sahab who tells the truth without misleading the people with false slogans.
“We will tell what can be achieved and done on the ground. If we come to power, we will launch social security schemes for the welfare of the general public without discrimination. The people need relief and support from the Government to overcome the crises they are facing from the last over four years,” he said.
