SRINAGAR, June 12: Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) member and President of one faction of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) Abdul Qayoom Wani has said that the four day fresh protest programme of Government employees from June 13 to June 16 would be crucial and it would shake the foundation of the State Government.
In a press release issued here, Wani accused the Government of pushing the employees to the dead end adding that matters would turn worse if the demands of the employees are not met soon. He said one and half lakh posts are vacant in the various departments and these need to be filled at the earliest.
“The State Government is creating confusion about the demand of enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 years. The JCC has made it clear that the enhancement of retirement age would not jeopardize the interests of educated un-employed youth since around 1.5 lakh posts are vacant,” said Wani.
Wani asked the employees associated with EJAC-Q to lend full support to the secretariat gherao programme led by JCC leaders Mohammad Khursheed Alam and Mohammad Gafoor Dar on June 13 and 15 respectively.
He asked the employees to observe one day strike on June 16 and march towards Srinagar as part of the protest programme.
