JAMMU, Sept 13: Former minister J&K and senior Congress leader, Yogesh Sawhney today strongly urged the Lt Governor to fast-track the investigation in the SI recruitment scam and severely punish the people involved in it as per law of the land.
In a press statement here today senior Congress leader said,” In light of the search operations led by the CBI at 33 locations in this matter, we appeal to the UT Administration to provide justice to the thousands of affected students, if the investigation proves that any malpractice was done in SIs recruitment in J&K.”
Former minister said that huge irregularities were observed after the written examination for the posts of Sub-Inspectors in the J&K Police this year and it is shameful how responsible people played with the future of the youth of J&K with such boldness, freedom and without any fear. It is apparent that BJP has turned the UT into a hub of corruption. On the one hand, the BJP will boast of succeeding in curbing corrupt practices, on the other hand, some of its party leaders directly or indirectly encouraged an environment in J&K that facilitates corruption, even in areas where it might not have existed before, Sawhney alleged.
Senior Congress leader also said that strict action is required against the officers who failed to fulfil their duties of maintaining the secrecy of the exam and ensuring that it was successfully completed. A free and transparent inquiry should continue to find out the truth. If the paper was leaked or sold, and if any malpractice occurred, it endangered the future of many young girls and boys. If such scams can happen so easily, the youth will have no trust in the system which they would normally depend upon for securing employment.
He accused the government of failing to control corruption and stated that more and more scams are uncovered. Not only the SI recruitment exam, but also FAA and JE Civil exams have been cancelled after irregularities were observed in these cases as well. Sawhney urged the UT Administration to get the situation in control and put an immediate stop to all such recruitment scams. This is a very critical issue as this relates to the careers and lives of the youth.
