JAMMU, Sep 15: Municipal and Urban Local Bodies Pensioners’ Association today reiterated its demand for increase in Medical Allowance of the pensioners.
The demand was raised during a meeting of the Association held here today under the chairmanship of B S Jamwal (Advocate). The Association members press the Government to increase their Medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 700 per month.
They said that pensioners of Central Government and other Union Territories are getting Rs 1000 per month as Medical Allowance since the implementation of 7th Pay Commission whereas J&K Government is disbursing only Rs 300 per month as Medical Allowance to its pensioners despite the fact that J&K employees and pensioners are also enjoying 7th Pay Commission benefits.
The meeting strongly criticized Lt Governor Administration for not redressing the long standing demand of the UT pensioners in respect of Medical Allowance and acting as mute spectator despite repeated representations given by the Association
All the members of the Association present in the meeting appealed Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to redress this minor issue and provide emoluments to J&K employees and pensioners at par with Central Government employees and pensioners.
The members also drew the attention of the LG towards increasing unemployment in J&K, agitation by employees of various departments and organizations, sky rocketing prices of essential commodities and hike in cooking gas, petrol and diesel prices.
The meeting was attended by prominent members of the Association including Bahu-ud-Din, BD Verma, Jawahar Lal Sharma, KG Khajuria, CL Koul, BS Jamwal, JR Sharma, ML Gupta, Harcharn Singh, Tarsem Lal Gupta, SK Sharma, YS Jamwal, R K Gupta and Mohan Lal Pandita.
