DF&SS holds protest over rising accidents

JAMMU, Sept 15: Dogra Front and Shiv Sena (DF&SS) held protest over rising accidents.
The activists of DF&SS led by its President Ashok Gupta held protest and raised slogans to curb the rising cases of accidents.
While speaking, Ashok Gupta said that yesterday 11 people were killed and 27 others received injuries in accident in Sawjia area of District Poonch and no one was held accountable.
“Road Safety Weeks’ are being held to make people aware about safe driving and on the other hand the lives of people remain in danger as there is routine overloading in passenger vehicles despite police check points at many places”, he added.
He said that the loss of human lives in accidents cannot be brought back but can be minimised if timely and effective steps are taken in this regard.
Government departments like Traffic Police and Transport Department should also be pulled for their negligence in checking overloading of passengers in public transport vehicles, checking of old vehicles and not taking action against the erring drivers responsible for overloading their vehicles with additional passengers, Gupta said, adding that proper coordination between these departments can be helpful in bringing down the number of road accidents.
He appealed to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to direct the concerned department for taking strict action against the drivers, who overload their vehicles with passengers.
