SRINAGAR, Sept 17: The department of Clinical Haematology & Blood Marrow Transplant, SKIMS today inaugurated National CME in hematology at SKIMS auditorium under the theme of ‘Current Insights into Haematology and Blood Marrow Transplant.’
The eminent hematologist of the country Prof. B. M Aggarwal who is at present Professor and Head of Haematology at Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences, Mumbai, was the chief guest on the occasion.
The program will be followed by a one-day scientific session in which experts from across the country will present scientific papers on a various day-to-day issues in hematology
Director SKIMS Prof. Parvaiz A Koul in his address complimented the department for organizing the event and expressed hope that the scientific sessions will be thought-provoking and will give deeper insights into the future of hematology.
He also hailed the contribution of luminaries such as Prof. Ismail Qadri, Prof. Ramesh Pandita, Samoon Jeelani, and many others who he said contributed tremendously to the growth of hematology which has come a long way. He further added that many students of SKIMS are doing extraordinarily well at the world level in top institutions like Harvard etc.
Prof. Agarwal in his brief address to the audience thanked SKIMS for the invitation and appreciated the progressive and resilient nature of Kashmiris.
Dean Medical Faculty Prof. Bashir Ahmed Laway highlighted the academic achievements of the organization and appreciated many other patient services the department is providing.
He also said that hematology in the past many decades has progressed and there is a rapid change in treatment modalities in cancer management. The department is currently running DM courses in hematology and said the intake capacity will be increased in the future.
Prof. and HOD Javid Rasool welcomed the guests and thanked the administration for their cooperation and support. Organising Secretary Dr. Afaq Ahmad Khan gave a detailed introduction of Chief Guest Prof. M.B. Agarwal while organizing secretary Dr. Reashma Roshan presented a vote of thanks.
