JAMMU, Sept 18: Lavanya Manhas today launched her debut book “The Swallow on The Carousel” which hit major publication platforms, including Amazon in over 150 countries. The guests of honour included RJ Shwetima, RJ Roohi and Jasleen Kour. She was virtually congratulated by Sonnet Mondol and Abhimanyu Jamwal.
The ‘Swallow on The Carousel’ is a poetry collection consisting of five themes, namely Beauty and Vulnerability, Medial Dependency, Tormenting Infliction, Soft Conscience and Funky Flight with a total of 26 poems. The book focused on elements such as observance, interpersonal dependency, melancholy, romanticisation, vulnerability and teenage angst. There are also mentions of graphic and sensitive subjects such as such ideation in the book and reader discretion.
Through each theme/section, the poet has tried to convey a unique story surrounding the much sensitive and ignored aspects of human emotions and has showcased them in the form of consistent thread of ideas displayed to anchor some of the repetitive and continuous thoughts and events to weave a full-fledged tale featuring various characters appearing in the book.
“Lavanya’s poetry is intertwined with lyricism from her own life. Freshness, sensitivity, innocence, and a lack of care for a society that takes itself too seriously are all present in her book. The poet exhibits potential to reach for the sun in the future and spread her branches.”
