SS Hindustan frames its unit, raises farmers’ issues

JAMMU, Sept 18: J&K president of Shiv Sena Hindustan, Rajesh Kesri framed its new unit at Chak Shera, Arnia in which Suresh Kumar was nominated as president, while Darshan Lal, Raj Kumar, Darshan Kumar and Lal Chand were announced as vice president, cashier, chairman and general secretary respectively, here today.
Rajesh Kesari while addressing Shiv Sainiks expressed serious concern over drug menace in the area and stressed awareness programmes to help eradicate menace of drug abuses and also to help improving police-public relation.
Kesri meanwhile demanded immediate plugging of the breach in the Ranbir Canal in RS Pura and Arnia villages. He expressed serious concern over the damage caused to Basmati crop in R S Pura with the breach in the canal. He said the breach has caused stoppage of further flow of water in the canal to other areas of RS Pura, Suchetgarh and Bishnah.
Over 25 km of area of the main canal has been affected in RS Pura and Suchetgarh. The canal distributaries from number 10 to 17 have been badly hit with this, he said, adding that about 20,000 hectares area of Ranbir Singh Pura and Suchetgarh have been badly hit.
He demanded that an appropriate agency must be engaged to plug the breach and restore the flow of irrigation water in the Ranbir Canal immediately. “If Govt fails to do it immediately, Shiv Sainiks will launch agitation by blocking main roads along with affected farmers of the areas and the Govt will be responsible for this,” he warned.
