River Tawi will soon become most attractive tourist destination: Mayor

JAMMU, Sept 18: Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Chander Mohan Gupta today said that soon we will see River Tawi as the most attractive tourist destination.
The Mayor said this while giving a detailed account of efforts being undertaken for rejuvenation and beautification of River Tawi and its banks, during a Tawi cleanliness drive organized by Namami Gange Department of BJP along with NGOs–Tawi Andolan, Paryaveran Gatividhi and Human Aid volunteers. About 200 volunteers participated in the cleanliness drive.
Chander Mohan, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking keen interest in preservation of water and water bodies, climate, environment and ecological balance. He further said that the Prime Minister has earned the fame of being global leader in fight against climate change.
Speaking on the occasion, Balwinder Singh Bhatia (vice president of Tawi Andolan Namami Gange) stressed the need of expeditious completion of STPs to keep the proposed lake free of filth while Swarnveer Singh Jaral (president of Human Aids) said that conservation of pure water for future generations is greatest service for humanity.
Choudhary Sushpaul Singh (general secretary, BJP Kissan Morcha Jammu), Usha Slathia and agriculture scientist Chander Mohan also spoke on the occasion.
