JAMMU, Oct 3: Income Tax Commissioner, J&K Circle, A K Thatai today said that department has achieved an increase of 38.19% in tax collection during the current financial year till date.
As against collection of Rs 313.98 crore for the period ending September 30, 2012, the Income Tax Department has collected Rs 433.92 crore tax for the period ending September 2013, he said, adding “there is an increase of Rs 119.94 crore in collection for the budget target fixed by the Central Board of Direct Taxes”.
He, however, said that there is no scope for the department to get complacent with this achievement as the total target fixed by CBDT for collection of IT for the financial year 2013-14 stands at a whooping Rs 880.58 crore as compared to Rs 696.43 crore fixed for the last financial year.
Stating that Income Tax Department was working hard to achieve the targets fixed by CBDT, he said that no stone would be left unturned to achieve the targets and to punish the habitual tax evaders.
