Jora assures better civic amenities in Rajouri, Thanamandi towns

RAJOURI, Oct 3: Minister for Urban Development, Nawang Rigzin Jora, today said that Government would provide adequate funds to improve the basic amenities and civic infrastructure in the twin towns of Rajouri and Thanamandi.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing separate meetings of civil society members convened to listen to the developmental demands of the locals of the twin towns.
Responding to the demands raised during the meeting at Rajouri, the Minister assured that adequate funds would be made available to complete the upcoming community hall in the town. He also assured to provide funds to the Municipal Committee for purchasing a JCB for lifting of garbage.
The Minister also listed the schemes being implemented to up-grade civic infrastructure in the town area committees across the State. He also assured that the newly constructed bus terminal in Rajouri town would be started soon and asked the local administration to take steps in this direction.
Health Minister, Shabir Ahmed Khan also highlighted the developmental requirements with regard to the improving civic amenities in the twin towns. He particularly stressed for adequate funds for the early completion of the community hall at Rajouri town, adding that this was a long pending demand of the locals. He also stressed on the need to equip the local urban bodies in the district to enable them to improve civic services in the urban centres.
Earlier, the Minister also reviewed achievements under Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme (IHSDP), Integrated Development of Small and Medium Towns (IDSMT) and other schemes at a meeting attended by the District Development Commissioner Rajouri, F C Bhagat, Director Local Bodies, Jammu and other senior functionaries of line departments.
The meeting was told that in total 23 works in Rajouri and 10 works in Thanamandi town were completed under IDMT during last year, while 52 dwelling units, 22 works of lanes and drains and 5 public convenience units have been completed under IHSD in Rajouri.
