SAMBA, Sept 20: District Police Samba today foiled an attempt to smuggle bovines in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal by rescuing 18 bovines and arresting one bovine smuggler.
Acting on information received through reliable sources regarding illegal transportation of bovines, a police party of PS Ghagwal near Naka Tapyal, Ghagwal NHW, signalled a truck bearing Registration Number JK02AP/1795 to stop for checking. Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated the speed of vehicle but got successfully chased by alert cops within a few meters away from Naka Point.
After checking the vehicle, 18 bovines were found laden inside it without any permission and were tied in an inhumane manner.
The driver of the vehicle namely Kulbir Singh, son of Mangal Singh of Bandhu Rakh Jogi Mohalla tehsil and district Jammu has been arrested and the vehicle was also seized.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 137/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered in Police Station Ghagwal.
