SAMBA, Sept 21: District police Samba under the overall supervision of SSP Samba, Dr. Abhishek Mahajan, has arrested two narcotics smuggler and recovered approximately 48 Kgs of Poppy Straw(Bhukki) in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Vijaypur.
A police party of PS Vijaypur led by SHO PS Vijaypur Inspector, Rajeev Kumar under the supervision of SDPO Vijaypur, Priyanka Kumari during vehicle checking at NHW naka AIIMS, Vijaypur, intercepted a Sleeper Bus bearing Registration Number UP17AT/ 5594 for checking.
During checking, approximately 48 Kgs of poppy straw like substance wrapped in two plastic sacks were recovered from the Dikki of the bus.
The accused persons identified as Garu Ram, son of Om Parkash (Driver of the bus) and his associate Ashwani Kumar son of Sham Lal both residents of Bhore Camp, Chatha, district Jammu have been arrested on the spot and the contraband item along with vehicle were also seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 144/2022 U/S 8/15/29 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Vijaypur and further investigation started.
