Devastating fire near Yatri Niwas

JAMMU, June 12: A major fire broke out today in the dump of scrap near Yatri Niwas, at Bhagwati Nagar area of city outskirts.
Police spokesman said that the dump of scrap caught fire under mysterious circumstances this evening near Yatri Niwas, at Bhagwati Nagar area.
On receiving information, police party from Canal Road Police Post led by SI Rattan Singh Rana, rushed to the spot and fire tenders were pressed in to service to douse the flames, he said, adding, after hectic efforts of nearly one hour by the police personnel and fire fighter, the flames were brought under control.
“The fire broke at around 1700 hrs and the fire tenders along with the teams of fire fighters rushed to the spot to avoid any untoward incident, spokesman said, adding, that no injury or casualty in the incident has been reported. The exact cause of the fire could not be ascertained immediately.
A spokesman of Fire and Emergency Services Department said that six fire tenders were pressed into service including four from Gandhi Nagar Headquarters and one each from Canal Road and City Fire Service Stations.
