Clash in Rajouri: 4 injured

JAMMU, Oct 4: Four youths were injured in a clash between two groups at Naban Mohalla in Rajouri town tonight prompting police to deploy para-military Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and additional strength of police in the entire town and outskirts.
Reports said the RSS activists had changed the venue of their night drill (`Ratri Shakha’) to Naban Mohalla as they planned to hold `Ram Leela’ at original venue of the drill. At about 9 pm tonight, the members of majority community objected to holding of the  drill at a ground at Naban, which, they claimed, was a parking spot.
The RSS activists, however, claimed that they had been holding drill at the same ground earlier also but had shifted it sometimes back. Now when `Ram Leela’ was being held at the venue of drill “we reverted to old ground for holding ‘Shakha’ but were ‘attacked’ by the majority community, which claimed that the ground had been converted into a parking place.
Later, the youths from minority community especially those, who had gone for the drill, beat-up three youths of majority community causing injuries to two of them. Two injured Mohammad Tariq, 21 and Shehzad, 18, both brothers and sons of Kabeer Hussain had reported at the District Hospital for injuries.
Ritanshu Ghai and Dikshit were injured from the minority community side. Minorities claimed that gate of Gurdeep Oberoi was smashed. Minorities claimed that the majority community objected to morning drill on the ground that it would block their passage and parking.
Both sides have lodged complaints and counter complaints at Police Post, Rajouri alleging attacks on them.
Police parties headed by senior officers rushed to the spot and spoke to the injured and other members of the community. Police and CRPF have been deployed in strength in Rajouri town and outskirts to maintain law and order.
Police said the FIRs would be registered only after verification of complaints from both the sides.
