A scene from Aaditya Bhanu’s play - ‘Laadli..........Beti Hai To Kal Hai’ staged by Nav Durga Kala Manch at Jammu.

JAMMU, Oct 5: Nav Durga Kala Manch (NDKM) staged Aaditya Bhanu’s play — Laadli…Beti Hai To Kal Hai, at KL Sehgal Hall, here today. Directed by Himanshu Darshan, the play was based on sex abuse of girl-child.
Senior Congress leader and Ex- Municipal Corporator, Surinder Singh Shingari, was the chief guest on the occasion.
The play depicts the physical and mental trauma a girl child comes across during adolescence. This is perhaps the worst curse breathing on this earth. The story is about a girl who is in her 20’s and has gone through physical harassment from her maternal uncle.
The play opens with the girl sitting on a bench and writing something, though picture gets clear when she discloses that she is in mental asylum. Now she pretends that there are few people in front of her and she starts narrating her untold tale and as the story progresses audience comes to know that she has been molested continuously by her maternal uncle which even her mother knows but refuses to accept only because of fear of being ashamed in the family as well as to the society at large.
Finally, when nobody listens to her, the girl takes the bold step and kills a person accidently considering him as her maternal uncle. She gets the police custody but the court decides that her mental state is not stable and she should be treated in mental asylum. Finally, she again sits near that bench and starts writing again.
The play exposes the illicit mentality of ill-brain people who molest girls and even boys when they don’t even know what shock and suffering they are giving to those kids.
Ridhima Singh, the sole performer of the play spell bound the audience by her scintillating performer and won applaud from one and all.
The music was composed by Dilshad Shazi.
