JAMMU, Oct 5: A team of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) was attacked by a group of Gujjars for checking samples of their milk and destroying it at Bakshi Nagar this morning.
Reports said the JMC team headed by Health Officer Dr Vinod Sharma was taking milk samples of Gujjars at Talab Tillo. Finding the milk unfit for sale, the JMC team destroyed it.
The Gujjars, however, called more milk sellers and attacked the JMC team at Bakshi Nagar causing injuries to Dr Sharma and two others.
They kidnapped the Health Officer and snatched his official Gypsy before being rescued by a team of Bakshi Nagar police.
Police arrested seven Gujjars and charged them with assault on Government servant, kidnapping of the official and snatching his vehicle.
The arrested Gujjars have been identified as Hazoor Din, Mushtaq Ahmed, Murad Ali, Shah Wali, Farman Ali, Mohammad Billa and Mohammad Mushtaq.
The Health Officer was admitted in Sarwal Hospital.
