BARAMULLA, June 13: Immediately responding to the situation, Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Sham Lal Sharma today paid visit to village Drangbal in Baramulla where reports of some people suddenly falling ill in the area were received.
The Minister personally met the patients who were undergoing treatment in the make-shift medical camp in the locality and in the District Hospital, Baramulla and directed the Chief Medical Officer and other concerned doctors to keep a close watch on the situation and provide best possible medicare to the people.
Meanwhile, while interacting with the media persons at Baramulla, the Minister said “there is no sign of any epidemic but administration has collected the samples of water and other food items to find the cause of the problem.” He said “it is premature to say anything about the cause of problem and this will be clear from the reports of the samples.”
The Minister said “it is top most priority of the Government to provide health cover to the people in every nook and corner of the State and Government has upgraded the health infrastructure in the rural areas according to the requirements”. He also informed that the new building of the District Hospital, Baramulla will be completed during the current financial year and requisite funds will be released at the earliest. He directed the concerned executing agencies to speed up the pace of work of the project so that the hospital is made operational.
The Minister also inspected the health institutions in the district and took stock of the medicare facilities being provided to the people. The institutions visited included, Sub-District Hospital, Pattan, SDH, Kreeri, District Hospital, Baramulla. He also interacted with the patients, doctors, para-medics and locals and sought the feedback on the health facilities in the Government Hospitals.
