Fraudulent NGOs

A blatant case of NGOs cheating students as well as the Government has come to the notice of the Chief Minister when he was replying to questions in the Upper House of the Legislature. Under Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme, some fraudulent NGOs took the initiative of enrolling the students and claiming scholarship to the tune of Rs.25,000 that the Government of India had sanctioned in each case under PMSSS. The students did not receive the money and the NGOs were the main actors because the scheme was not routed through the State Government. The Chief Minister has taken up the issue with the Prime Minister and suggested that the scheme should be routed through the State Government. We strongly endorse the suggestion of the Chief Minister and at the same time, the State Government should take strictest action against the fraudulent NGOs. The scholarship must reach the poor students of the State for whom it is meant.
