Employees stir

Sir,
It is a matter of concern that a State of confrontation has surfaced between the Government and the striking employees. While some of the demands put forth by the employees appear prima facie to be genuine, the view point of the Government also is not wholly unrealistic. It may be noted that the State does not earn even half of as much as required to be paid as salaries and pension to its employees and retirees.
It may be argued as that should be  the headache of the policy planners of the State but a time has has come when lesser support across the State shall be pouring in for the State striking employees from the public excepting from political cricles not in the Government.
The principle of “no work no pay” said to be enforced by the Government is not a new phenomenon but as an agreed principle between the employer and the employees. It is very much prevalent in PSUs like Banks, Insurance Companies, Corporations etc. The pinch of stirke should not be felt by the employer only but by those also who decide to break the very term and the condition of employment. There are, however, very important associated isues like daily wagers who need preferred attention, those who are contractual employees and worst those, who are not paid salaries for months together. The Government should intervene to ensure public is not put to more hardships due to employees strike.
