JAMMU, June 13: The condition of two employees of Jammu Development Authority sitting on fast unto death deteriorated this evening as they refused to take even water.
While the police lifted the president of JDA Employees Union, Ashok Singh last night from the dharna site and removed to hospital in view of his deteriorating condition, two more employees went on fast unto death last night. They have been identified as Zakir Hussain and Anil Bakshi. Due to de-hydration their condition is also deteriorating. Ashok Singh, who was lifted at around 9.30 pm from dharna site was discharged from hospital this morning.
The employees of Jammu Development Authority are on strike from May 22. They also staged dharnas, demonstrations and took out protest rally at the office of the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu.
Annoyed over the indifferent and rigid attitude of the Vice-Chairperson of JDA and Housing Minister, the agitating employees sat on chain-hunger strike on May 28. They went on fast unto death strike on June 11.
Ashok Singh, president of JDA Employees Union criticized the authorities concerned for their adamant and indifferent attitude. He demanded regularization of daily rated and consolidated workers, implementation of SRO 43, release of 6th Pay Commission arrears, change of timings of JDA offices as per standing Government orders for all other offices in Jammu Zone, in-situ promotions etc.
He said in case of any mis-happening, DyCM Tara Chand incharge Housing and Urban Development Department and VC JDA, Sarita Chouhan, will be responsible. A large number of employees are sitting on dharna outside the JDA office and the work in the department has been badly hit, causing inconvenience to the public. The senior officers have failed to resolve the issue so far.
