GCPF raises issues of employees, pensioners, middle class

JAMMU, Oct 8: General Category People’s Front, Jammu Kashmir (GCPF-JK) today raised a number of issues being faced by employees, pensioners and middle class.
The issues came up for discussion in the meeting of GCPF-JK held today under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia (chairman of the Front). The meeting was attended by all core committee members. They deliberated over present anti-employees and anti-pensioners attitude of the Government.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Yash Paul Sanson (president of the Front) said that employees, pensioners and middle class are facing economic hardships because of recession in the country due to wrong economic and social anti-employees and anti-pensioners policies of the Government.
Stating that the surge in inflation has badly affected the house hold budget of middle class families, employees and pensioners, Prof Sanson appealed the Government to enhance medical allowance of the employees and pensioners which is Rs 300 per month for the last 20 years.
Som Nath Sharma (general secretary of the Front) expressed deep concern over the steep price rise of essential commodities. He said that hike in taxes, tolls, service charges has shattered the budget of fixed income groups including employees and pensioners. He urged the Government to reduce taxes, GST rates, etc.
V K Sharma (vice president, GCPF-JK) demanded that all pensioners being senior citizens be exempted from Income Tax as their pension is a relief and allowance and not salary.
Jagdish Dogra and Ram Paul Seth demanded additional pension to pensioners @ 10%, 15%, 20% and 100% at the age of 65, 70, 75 and 80 years, respectively. They also demanded release of 4% DA due with effect from 1-07-2022 before Diwali in favour of state employees and pensioners.
Deepak Khajuria, Ravi Sawhney, Ram Pal Seth, Bhushan Pargal, Surinder Sharma, Dr Bansi Lal, Gopal Dass Verma and Jagdish Dogra also expressed their views.
