Bovine smuggling bid foiled

UDHAMPUR, Oct 7: Udhampur Police foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued 7 animals besides arresting one person in this connection under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kud.
Acting on reliable information, a Police party from Police Station Kud laid a surprise naka on the National Highway near Kud in the wee hours yesterday and intercepted one Mahindra vehicle bearing registration number JK02AN-1265.  During thorough search of the vehicle, which was on way to Kashmir, seven bovine animals were found packed. Police rescued these animals and also arrested the vehicle driver, namely Talab Hussain of Maitra, Ramban.  The vehicle used in smuggling was also seized.
A case in this connection has been registered under Section 188/RPC 3 PCA Act at Police Station Kud.
