‘Sale of beer at provisional stores dangerous move’

JAMMU, Oct. 12: Strongly opposing the attempts to enroll lakhs of outside voters în Jammu and Kashmir through backdoor, the Congress has attacked BJP for its efforts to enroll maximum outside voters as it has lost support and trust of the local voters.
Addressing a press conference at Congress office here today, JKPCC president Vikar Rasool Wani along with working president Raman Bhalla and other senior leaders, said that the cât is finally out of the bag, in furtherance of the announcement of CEO of Jammu and Kashmir had already announced addition of around 25 lakh voters. After lot of hue &cry, it was clarified in the all party meeting called by CEO that there is no such intention to include outside voters but now the truth is before people, he added.

“Now, anybody can become voters in Jammu and Kashmir by getting a certificate even if he doesn’t have any documentary evidence. The intention is clearly known. The order of District Election Officer Jammu has clearly stated that even without any documents, the tehsildars shall issue residence certificates to anybody on his satisfaction, which means absolute discretion.
This is game plan of BJP to dilute the power of local voters, especially în Jammu region, since they (BJP) feel pulse of the large scale resentment amongst the J&K residents and local voters here, due to wrong policy decisions, unprecedented price hike and record unemployment of about 33 percent and so on.
Vikar also lashed out at the decision of J&K Govt to allow sale of beer and other such drinks on the departmental stores în Jammu and Kashmir which is against the wishes and interests of people in both the regions . The Jammu is identified as a pilgrim destination în the country în view of holy Mata Vaishnodevi shrine and other holy places while Jammu is known as City of Temples. The BJP Govt has failed to give jobs but now easily making available liquor on Karyana shops for the youth. They have taken a very anti people decision as 228 shops în last 70 years în three regions but BJP govt opened 51 more liquor shops besides ordering sale of beer and other such drinks on departmental stores here.
PCC leadership strongly condemned these decisions of the government and declared to oppose them tooth and nail. They said that the daily wagers, need based, Jammu employees posted în Kashmir and PM package employees are on roads for over 100 days but Govt is indifferent to their genuine issues.
