KCC asks Govt to review Master Plan

Srinagar, Oct 8: Kashmir Chamber of Commerce has asked the Government to review the Master Plan in Srinagar to regularize areas for commercial activity so as not to cause unemployment and loss of livelihood to the educated youth who are otherwise employed in establishments housed in these sealed shopping complexes.
A media release said KCC members held a meeting today to discuss the situation that has rose after sealing of illegal shopping complexes in Srinagar.
“Notwithstanding the legality or otherwise of the existence of the shopping complexes or the environment norms to be fulfilled by the hoteliers that are subjected to the sealing orders for establishing Sewerage Treatment Plants, a large number of people who have hired the space to run their small business in these shopping complexes or are working with the hotels in question have suddenly lost their livelihood,” the statement said.
The statements quoting the members said the sealing of hotels will to hit hard the tourism industry which will have its cascading effect on all the sectors of economy of the valley which include the handicraft business , tourist related transport Shikara wallas, pony wallas and general trade as well.
