JAMMU, Oct 15: JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla today made a call to people of J&K to work together with the Congress to defeat BJP’s `wrong’ polices and vested agenda in forthcoming Assembly polls.
While interacting with people of Bahu Fort area, he said that political parties were gravely mistaken if they felt they could topple the BJP without the Congress playing a leading role.
“BJP Government has failed to address political and developmental aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Common people have been left to fend for themselves by a brazenly insensitive and callous dispensation. Lack of direction and political will have compounded the perception of political uncertainty in J&K and in such a situation, Congress is the only solution to address grievances of people,” he said.
The former Minister alleged that the BJP Government had chosen to tread a path of isolation, arrogance and confrontation contradicting the promises made to people of J&K. BJP Govt has not only created an atmosphere of disillusionment with the democratic institutions but also destroyed the hard-earned dividends of peace in J&K, he added.
The Congress leader said that regional polarization and efforts to divide the people on the basis of their religions could have short-term political advantages for the ruling parties, but Jammu and Kashmir will always remain stick to its legacy of inclusiveness, secularism and tolerance. He said that those giving sermons on secularism should learn its basics from the glorious, selfless history of Congress. “We have rendered unparalleled sacrifices for the cause of secularism and inclusiveness,” he added.
Bhalla further alleged that development has been pushed to back burner while public grievances were mounting unheard with each passing day. He said that it was only his party that was capable of defeating BJP on its own. “It is the Congress which is fighting the BJP in and out of Parliament. You have tested other parties. In J&K, we all have seen, developed only during the Congress regime. To improve further, you must bring the Congress back to power,” he said.
