BASOHLI, Oct 15: Tourist destinations across Kathua district have full potential of boosting J&K’s economy and there is a dire need to develop these destinations in order to attract maximum tourist footfall as well as to generate new employment opportunities for the youth of J&K.
This was stated by Col. Mahan Singh (Retd.), DDC Chairman Kathua while inaugurating construction work of 600 meter approach road from Atal Setu Road to upcoming Water Sport Academy on the bank of Ranjit Sagar Dam near Basohli town.
The road stretch is being constructed at the cost of Rs. 73 lakh by J&K Sports Council.
BDC Chairperson, Sushma Jamwal; MC president, Sumesh Spolia; officials of J&K Sports Council, local Councillors and others were also present on the occasion.
The DDC Chairman highlighted the potential of different type of tourism in Kathua such as religious tourism, adventure tourism, water sports activities, golf tourism and mesmerizing scenic views, especially in hilly region etc.
He emphasized that if these tourist destinations are developed properly they can match any popular tourist destination of the country and added that BJP government at the Centre is fully sensitive towards the development of J&K.
