Srinagar, Oct 8: A court in south Kashmir’s Shopian today convicted three persons including a father and a son for murdering a man in Shopian in 2007.
The sessions court in Shopian convicted Rashid Wani, son of Ahsan Wani, Sajad Ahmad Wani, son of Rashid Wani – both residents of Heerpora, Shopian- and Rafiq Takad, son of Juma Takad, a native of Rajouri for murder of Yaseen Wani, son of Habibullah Wani, a of Heerpora in Shopian.
The trio had assaulted the victim when he was offering evening prayers at a local mosque on June 1, 2007.
“The court heard the prosecution and the defense in the murder case FIR number 92/2007 under Section 302, 34 RPC of police station Shopian today. The prosecution succeeded in bringing home the charge of 302 against all three accused who have been convicted,” a police spokesman said.
