Members withdraw Bills after Govt assurance

SRINAGAR, Oct 8: As many as 4 Private Member Bills were moved in the Legislative Council today, which were later withdrawn by the concerned members after getting assurances from the concerned Ministers.
The Bill moved by Dr. Shehnaz Ganai for the consideration of the House pertained to amendment in the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act 1989 for further empowerment of women.
Another Bill moved for introduction by the member pertained to making education free and compulsory for all children of the age of 6 to 14 years in the State as a Fundamental Right. Dr. Shehnaz Ganai also moved a Bill to establish Ombudsman for Panchayats for brining transparency and accountability in working of the Panchayati Raj System.
Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri’s Bill for introduction pertained to creation of an authentic and modern digital data base of information pertaining to J&K for better future planning and for easy authentic reference.
