129 bovine animals rescued

RAMBAN, Oct 18: Ramban Police foiled several bovine smuggling bids in different parts of the district and rescued 129 bovine animals.
“Acting on the specific inputs regarding transportation of bovine animals, different teams of Police Station Banihal, Police Station Chanderkote, Police Station Batote and Police Station Ramban intercepted 11 vehicles bearing registration numbers JK14G-0106, JK14D-4248,JK02AK-2243, JK14J-1746, JK02CU-3862, JK19A-1178, JK19-7081, JK02AT-6085, JK02AC-7981, JK02AS-7981 and JK03A-8661 which were on their way from Jammu towards Srinagar,” a police spokesman said.
He said on checking, 129 bovine animals with utmost cruelty and without any arrangements of food and water were found loaded in these vehicles and were being transported to Valley without any valid permission of competent authority.
The spokesman said in this connection, a case FIR number 230/2022 was registered at Police Station Banihal, cases vide FIR numbers 159,160/2022 in Police Station Chanderkote, case vide FIR numbers 352, 353, 354, 355, 356 and 357/2022 in Police Station Ramban and cases vide FIR numbers 186, 187/2022 registered in Police Station Batote under relevant sections of law and investigation set into motion.
The overall rescue operation was made by police parties under the command of Inspector Afzal Wani (SHO, Police Station Banihal), Inspector P D Singh (SHO Chanderkote), Inspector Sam Gill (SHO Police Station Batote) and Inspector Sandeep Charak (SHO Ramban) under the supervision of Pardeep Singh Sen (Deputy SP HQ Ramban) and Nisar Ahmed Khoja (SDPO Banihal) with the overall supervision of SP Ramban, Mohita Sharma.
