Refer Privilege Motion against ex-COAS to Privilege Committee: CPI(M)

SRINAGAR: The Communist Party of India (M) member Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami and Peoples Democratic Forum (PDF’s) member Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen today demanded that Privilege Motion against former Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) (Retd) General V K Singh should be referred to Privilege Committee of the Legislative Assembly.
In a joint statement here this afternoon after Speaker Mubarak Gul adjourned the House sine die, Mr Tarigami and Mr Yaseen said the Speaker should take the sense of the House into consideration while disposing of the Privilege Motion moved against the retired general.
They also sought that confusion be cleared on different statements towards the motion.
They said a Privilege Committee stands already constituted and the motion should be referred to it with the direction to summon the retired General. (AGENCIES)
