POONCH/RAJOURI, Oct 9: Para-Medical students held protest demonstration at Poonch and Rajouri towns against the State Health authorities today.
A large number of  students,  including girls undergoing various para-medical training courses assembled at Parade Ground, Poonch and took out a protest march in the city. They were protesting against the State Health authorities for shifting their examination centre from Poonch to Jammu this year. Earlier, the exam used to be held at Poonch. They were shouting slogans against the Minister in-charge Health and senior officers in the department.
After passing through various markets they reached the office of  Deputy Commissioner and submitted a memorandum to him demanding that their exam be conducted at Poonch only and not in Jammu as per old practice. Later, they culminated their protest at Pritam Park.  A few of them also addressed the gathering.
Similar, protest demonstration was held at Rajouri by the Para-Medical students who were also opposing decision of the State Health authorities to shift their examination center to Jammu. The under trainees assembled outside the office of  Chief Medical Officer Rajouri  under the leadership of Atul Bali and submitted a memorandum to him. Later, they moved to the office of  Deputy Commissioner F C Bhagat and also submitted another memorandum projecting their demand of conducting exams at district headquarters as it will be very hard for the students of far flung areas to stay at Jammu and appear in the exam. Many of them were very poor and have not even visited Jammu so far.  The DC assured them to take up issue with the concerned higher authorities. Later, holding protest demonstration for some time they dispersed.
