Court grants 10 days police remand of Medical Officer

JAMMU, Oct 19: Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Jammu Amarjeet Singh Langeh today granted 10 days police remand of Dr Karnail Singh, Medical Officer, BSF who was arrested by the CBI in the much publicized SI paper leak scam.
The accused was produced in custody by Investigating Officer, DySP Prashant Sharma of CBI, ACB, Jammu and party in connection with FIR for offences under Section 120-B read with Section 420 of IPC with a prayer for grant of 15 days of police remand in respect of accused.
After perusal of file, CJM observed, “accused seems to have been arrested on 18.10.2022 in FIR in question. Investigation is at initial stage in so far as it pertains to accused. In order to pin-down the role of accused in the FIR in question, prayer of investigating agency to seek police remand in respect of accused, on facts and for reasons outlined in application,  therefore seems to be validly tenable and is therefore granted”.
Accordingly, the accused was remanded to police custody for a period of 10 days.
