Panel set up for EV Policy

JAMMU, Oct 20: The Government today constituted a committee for formulation of a comprehensive Electric Vehicle Policy for the Union Territory of J&K.
Headed by Administrative Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, the committee shall evaluate and suggest measures to promote electric mobility ecosystem in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir in general and in the twin cities of Jammu and Srinagar in particular.
Administrative Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department; Administrative Secretary PDD; Administrative Secretary, Transport Department; Secretary, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Department and Director General, Budget are among the Members of the committee, which shall furnish its report within a period of one month.
The committee shall also analyze scope of incentives as may be granted for ownership of electric vehicles, including conversion of existing commercial fleets into electric setup.
It shall suggest broad contours of the infrastructural requirements for shifting to electric mobility, comparing similar policies/rules of neighboring States and analyze aspects related to road safety associated with the usage of electric vehicles.
The committee shall suggest measures to promote research and innovation as well as skill development in the field of electric vehicles.
