JAMMU, Oct 21: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar today chaired a meeting of Deputy Commissioners and concerned officers to discuss and review the arrangements made by district administrations for the upcoming Diwali festival.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner JMC, Rahul Yadav; Director FCS&CA, Naseem Chowdhary; SSP Traffic Kaushal Sharma; Deputy Director Planning, Munish Dutta; besides Chief Engineers of PWD, JPDCL senior officers of Fire services, legal metrology, Police while Deputy Commissioners of Jammu division along with concerned officers attended the meeting through video conferencing.
The Div Com directed the Deputy Commissioners and concerned authorities to keep a strict vigil on sale and storage of fire crackers besides ensuring that the shopkeepers adhere to the guidelines laid down in this regard in all the districts.
He also asked DCs and officers of different departments to put in all possible efforts for smooth celebration of Diwali festival by ensuring availability of essential commodities, uninterrupted power and drinking water supply, medicare, security, sanitation and other services during the festival.
The Deputy Commissioners apprised the Div Com that all the arrangements have been finalized in the districts and necessary directions have been issued to concerned departments for ensuring smooth celebrations of Diwali festival in the district.
Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner chaired the Divisional Level Task Force meeting to review the safety measures for bridges on National Highway, PWD roads and removal of accumulated material.
Threadbare discussions were held on various important issues and identified bridges in the districts.
The Div Com directed District Mineral officers to find out the material availability under the bridges identified by NHAI, PWD. He also asked NHAI, executing agencies, to apply for disposal permissions for removal of material.
The Div Com instructed DCs to share the list of bridges identified so that necessary steps could be taken for the safety of the same.
