Militant arrested in Bandipora

Srinagar, Oct 21: Security forces today arrested a militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) in Bandipora and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession.
Police said that acting on specific information regarding movement of militants in Zalwan Nursery area of Bandipora, police along with 14 RR of Army and CRPF launched a joint cordon and search operation.
“During search, one locally trained militant of LeT was apprehended. He disclosed his identity as Shahid Hussain Bhat son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat of Plan Bandipora.
“On his disclosure, two hand grenades were recovered which he had kept in paddy fields near Ward No. 4 Plan Bandipora. The arrested militant was in touch with LeT in PoJK and was given the task to target police and security forces in Bandipora. He was also given the task by his handlers across the border to mobilise the youth in Bandipora for recruiting them in the LeT. In this connection, case FIR No. 168/2022 was registered in PS Bandipora and further investigation has been take up,” police added.
