KISHTWAR, Oct 22: Four notorious drug peddlers have been booked under Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act here today.
As per police sources, in a major strike on drug peddlers, 4 notorious drug peddlers of Kishtwar Town were booked under PIT NDPSA and are lodged in District Jail Kishtwar.
The name of these drug peddlers also surfaced in many other cases of drug peddling during the course of investigation and found them as kingpin of supplying drugs to youth in Kishtwar Town.
These drug peddlers were previously booked in different FIRs. The drug peddlers, who were booked are identified as Salman Sajjad Kandoo, son of Sajjad Hussain Kandoo of Umar Mohalla Kishtwar (FIR Numbers 275/2021 and 178/2022 of NDPS Act), Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Wali Mohd of Matta Kishtwar (FIR Numbers 54/2019 and 53/2021 of NDPS Act), Mohd Imran alias Soni, son of Ghulam Mohd of Wasserkund Kishtwar (FIR Numbers 63/2019 and 04/2022 of NDPS Act) and Muddasir Hussain, son of Abdul Latief of Tangwari Kishtwar (FIR Numbers 91/2022 and 178/2022 of NDPS Act).
In view of their continuous involvement in drug peddling and simultaneously involving the youth of Kishtwar for drug addiction, it had became mandatory to book them under PIT NDPS Act and save the youth of Kishtwar from indulging in drug abuse.
After obtaining PIT NDPS Act warrant, a team from Police Station Kishtwar led by SHO Inspector Abid Bukhari and assisted by SI Abdul Wahid, PSI Rahul Sharma and ASI Daleep Kumar arrested these notorious drug peddlers from different location of Kishtwar and further lodged them in District Jail Kishtwar.
