Christians demand inclusion in Social Castes

JAMMU, Oct 23: J&K Christian Minority Welfare Association has expressed resentment for not including 250 year old Christian community of J&K while amending J&K Reservation Rules 2005 to add 15 castes in Social Caste category based on the recommendations of J&K Socially and Educationally Backward Classes Commission Panel headed by former High Court Judge Justice G.D Sharma.
In a handout Nasir Masih, Association chairman alleged deliberate discrimination with Dalit Christians.
He said that the Panel should have known the social, political and economic condition of Dogra Christians before submitting the report.
Michael Wazir, Association president claimed that Christian community of J&K is annoyed to learn that they have been ignored by the Government.
He urged upon J&K LG, Manoj Sinha to review the decision and consider the required reform to help Christian community and promote their social and economic standard.
