Work on Cable Car to Bahu Fort in Jammu to start soon: Jora

SRINAGAR: Work on Cable Car from Bahu Fort Jammu to Mubarak Mandi would be started very soon as the project has been cleared by almost all departments concerned.
In reply to a question by Syed Mohammad Rafiq Shah in the Legislative Council here today on behalf of Minister for Tourism, Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies Nawang Rigzin Jora said work on the project would be started very soon.
The Minister further informed the House that the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests has granted environmental clearance to the project.
He said the standing committee of National Board of Wildlife in its 26th meeting held on October 31, 2012 has also recommended the project besides, the Central Empowered Committee of the Supreme Court has also inspected the site and recommended for the award for final clearance of order.
The Committee has recommended the project to the Supreme Court, which shall now fix a date for public hearing in next 6-8 weeks, the Minister said and added that the work was tendered through M/S Rites India Limited who has been engaged as consultants for this project and M/S Damodar Rope Way and Infrastructure Calcutta in collaboration with STM Teleferic Turkey has been awarded the contract.
The Minister further said there is no strip of state land available in and around Kali Mata Bahu Fort temple which can be utilized for beautification of the area.
While replying to another question by S Dharambir Singh Oberio, Mr Jora said the norms for conversion of residential houses into paying guest houses have already been notified in April 2012.
