JAMMU, Oct 10: Refugees from Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK) staged protest dharna in front of the office of Provincial Rehabilitation Officer in the old city here today.
A large number members including men and women under the banner of PoK Refugee Front-1947, 65, 71 assembled near Peer Mitha and then moved to the office of PRO and held protest demonstration followed by dharna. Rachhpal Singh Chib, president of the body was leading.
The protesters raised loud slogans projecting their demands. They sought comprehensive one time settlement of the pending issues of the PoK refugees for which many representations have already been submitted to the Government from time to time including Prime Minister, Home Minister, Chief Minister besides Revenue Minister
And Divisional Commissioner. Several refugee leaders also addressed the gathering and strongly criticized the Government for turning a deaf ear towards the issues of the refugees. They warned that a regular dharna will be started at the office of PRO is their issues were not resolved.
