BJP National Secretary seeks withdrawal of J&K University Bill

JAMMU, Oct 28: BJP National Secretary, Dr Narinder Singh has expressed his reservations over the Jammu Kashmir Public University Bill, which was recently introduced by the Administrative Council.
While meeting with a delegation of university teachers and scholars, who called on him, the BJP leader agreed that the Bill erodes autonomy of the Public universities with direct interference of Government bodies and bureaucrats.
Observing that with the interference of bureaucracy in Universities, the quality of the education would degrade, Dr Narinder Singh stressed that the Government should withdraw the controversial Bill with immediate effect
During the meeting, the delegation of university teachers and scholars conveyed strong resentment against the Bill, which envisages appointment of all teachers and officers in the universities through J&K Public Service Commission and non-gazetted employees through Service Selection Board.
Dr Narinder Singh, who is also a faculty member in SKUAST-Jammu, assured the delegation that he would take up the matter with BJP high command and convey general sentiments against the controversial Bill besides seeking its immediate withdrawal.
