JAMMU, Oct 31: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a seminar on the birth anniversary of former Home Minsiter and Iron man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel here today.
The seminar was organsied by Party’s Department of Publication led by its incharge Rajnesh Jain.
J&K BJP spokesperson and former MLA, R S Pathania and BJP spokesperson and former MLC, Girdhari Lal Raina were the main speakers in the seminar, which was also addressed by former BJP president and former Minister, Sat Sharma and MP (Rajya Sabha) Ghulam Ali Khatana.
Sat Sharma said that in order to give due respect to the architect of modern India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and recognition of his contribution, BJP celebrates his birthday every year. He said that Patel was denied due respect for decades together due to the reasons best known to those at the helm of affairs at that time. However, PM Modi is very particular about remembering the great contribution of Sardar Patel.
Ghulam Ali Khatana said that today the dream of a great leader has come to life. He said that “We are proud to see the moment of complete unification of India and this is due to the dream visualized by Patel and conceptualized and materialized by present Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi”.
RS Pathania thoroughly recreated the chain of events before and after the Indian Independence stressing on the role played by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in the integration of India. He stressed, “Had Sardar Patel been allowed to deal with Kashmir, the situation would have been different”. Stressing that Maharaja Hari Singh was committed to integrate J&K with India even before Independence, but he was pushed into a difficult situation by the creation of harsh circumstances by the conspirators i.e. British, Congress and Muslim conference.
Girdhari Lal Raina threw light on the grave mistakes done in relation to Jammu & Kashmir since the 1930s. He said that Sardar Patel could have handled J&K affairs in a better way if allowed by Pt. Nehru. However, due to the annoyed British Government, wrong policies of Pt. Nehru and conspiracies by Sheikh Abdullah, Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh had to suffer for seven decades.
