JAMMU, Nov 2: A delegation of Jammu Pharmaceutical Distributors Association (JPDA) today met Lotika Khajuria (Controller, Drug & Food Control Organization, J&K) at her office located at Patoli (Jammu) and discussed various issues concerning the wholesale pharmaceutical dealers.
The meeting with the Drug Controller was organized in continuation to the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ which intends to reach out to the masses and spread awareness about substance abuse. JPDA president Rajan Gupta apprised the Drug Controller of the situation arising out of the menace of drug addiction in the society.
Rajan Gupta along with his team also discussed various issues regarding infiltration of goods in the UT from various sources which are almost very tough to regulate as most of them do not fall in the direct jurisdiction of Drug & Food Control Organization (DFCO) J&K.
Lotika Khajuria promised a whole hearted support to the trade fraternity to curb the menace of drugs abuse as well as import of medicine from unauthorized sources which is increasing the risk of infiltration of spurious/fake medicines. The issue of multi brand chains/online sale of medicine was also discussed in detail.
Assistant Drug Controller Surinder Tickoo was also present in the meeting. Other office bearers of the JPDA present in the meeting were senior vice-president Manohar Verma, general secretary Brijesh Gupta, secretary Anil Gupta, joint secretaries Rakesh Gupta & Ravinder Gandral and treasurer Vicky Gupta.
