JAMMU, Nov 2: Deputy Mayor, Baldev Singh Billawaria visited Ward 22 along with the Corporator, Jaideep Sharma at Shastri Nagar in RS Pura-Jammu-South constituency today.
He met with the residents of Shastri Nagar and discussed the various issues faced by the people of the Ward. He also inspected the roads and drains and took stock of the situation regarding the shortage of Safai Karamchari workers and other issues which included the shortage of street lights.
He directed the concerned officials to take immediate measures to address the issues and provide relief to the residents of the area.
Baldev Singh Billawaria stated that the Shastri Nagar is one of the oldest and most popular markets in Jammu. It is known for its affordable and varied shops, as well as for its lively and vibrant atmosphere. He said that recently, the market has been undergoing a bit of a makeover, with new shops and businesses opening up and the old ones getting a facelift. The market is also home to a number of eateries, making it a popular spot for lunch and dinner, he added.
Deputy Mayor sought the help of residents in preserving its beauty and Shastri Nagar which is one of the most beautiful parts of the city. The garbage and litter on the streets is an eyesore, and the parks and public spaces are in need of repair. He directed the officials on the spot to clear the garbage, and repair the parks and public places. He also said “I believe that if we all work together towards cleanliness, then we can make Shastri Nagar dustbin free”. He said that ensuring cleanliness is our priority as maintaining cleanliness is important to prevent the spread of diseases and maintain a healthy environment.
He said that our aim is to provide basic facilities to the people at their doorsteps. He said development schemes launched by the Modi Government will benefit the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the coming days. Corporator, Jaideep Sharma while welcoming Deputy Mayor, Baldev Singh Billawaria in his ward said that he is always ready to provide help to his workers. He said that development works are going on in Ward 22 Shastri Nagar and soon all the development works of the area will be completed in a phased manner.
